Art journal - dream promarker
Dream promarker is an art journal entry I made. The Norwegian word for dream is "drøm". I played around with some new Letraset promarkers. I often feel that markers makes a bold statement. So I tried to give it a soft look. I have just bought some markers to test out what they can do, so far they are fun to play around with.
Medium used: promarker and permanent marker on watercolour paper.

Movie Monday#26 Natural gas
The idea of the film is simple. How to visualize the warmth of natural gas? By the use of the stop motion technique, we see how warmth spreads through the house as knitted wool.
A month of preparation, 4 days and night shoot, with a professional crew of over 40 men, shot live and in stopmotion with 4 different cameras. A film of TBWA Brussels, directed by Olivier Babinet produced by Lovo Films.

Here is how St.Lucia is celebrated here in Norway.
Santa Lucia is celebrated on December 13th. It is usually celebrated with a girl dressed in a white gown with a red sash or glitter belt, wearing an evergreen wreath with candles on her head. She is followed by a number of girl attendants, also dressed in white with one candle in there hand. The boys, "star-boys", also participate in the ceremony. They too are dressed in white gowns and they wear pointed hats and a stick with a star on.
At home:
The Lucia (the oldest girl in the family) wakes up her family by bringing a tray of coffee/tea and sweet-buns called "lussekatter"- translates to Lucia’s Cats. It is also custom to share lussekatter with the closes neighbours if they don’t have children.
Kindergarten:
The oldest children in the kindergarten 5-6 years old have a candlelight parade. They sing carols and give away lussekatter. The younger children and all the parents are invited to come and look at the parade. The parade then goes of to a retirement home, where they sing and give away some more lussekatter. The people there thank the Queen of Light, Lucia, for bringing hope during the darkest time of the year.
Schools:
The youngest children at the school have a candlelight parade. They sing carols and give away lussekatter to the other students.
In some towns:
Offices and communities sponsor candlelight parades in the evening, in which carols are sung.
Hotels
There is often an early Lucia breakfast this day.

Movie Monday#25 Vincent
Vincent is a 1982 stop-motion short film written, designed and directed by Tim Burton and Rick Heinrichs. At approximately six minutes in length, there is currently no individual release of the film. It can be found on the Special Edition and Collector's Edition DVDs of The Nightmare Before Christmas as a bonus feature and on the Cinema16 DVD American Short Films.
The film is narrated by actor Vincent Price, a life-long idol and inspiration for Burton. From this relationship, Price would go on to appear in Burton's Edward Scissorhands. Vincent Price later said that the film was "the most gratifying thing that ever happened. It was immortality — better than a star on Hollywood Boulevard.

Friday Night Art 22.10.10
This is what I am working on Friday 22 of October, 2010. Or to be more correct what I am trying to work on. There is a little problem with my cat trying to play along. So I started editing a art journal video instead. The journal is from the 09/10 Round Robin arrange on the Milliande ning group. A bit more tweaking and then I need to find some free music to go a long.

GeoCaching 10/10/10
10/10/10 is the date of Groundspeak’s global geocaching challenge. The date is significant because it represents 10 years of geocaching and 10 years of Groundspeak in 2010. Owners of this souvenir were a part of the attempt to break the record of the most geocachers going geocaching on a single day. The previous record was 56,654 accounts logging on April 18, 2010.

View form a studio window - video
I am participating in a moley_X project. If you are curious or want to follow the adventure of this group of artists from around the world, in a Japanese fold Moleskine sketchbook exchange you can go here: http://moleskinex79.blogspot.com
As mention in my blog post yesterday: http://ewian.blogspot.com/2010/10/view-form-studio-window.html My inspiration for this entry was the view from my studio window. I love the motive of the clothesline. This one I share with my neighbour. In this entry I have used a bit whimsical style. So excited to see how the rest of the book will develop. Wondering how people and the art will interact on the pages.
Medium used: pencil, eraser, acrylic paint, iridescent, vinyl paint, vintage paper, permanent marker, crystal gloss, promarkers, gesso and glue.

IF - old-fashioned
The word for Illustration Friday is old-fashioned. Although there is a lot of cool old fashioned things, I do like the classic Apache bike-cycle. I was never lucky enough to have one as a child, but there was some of the elderly boys that let us girls have a try.
The illo is made on gessoed background, drawn with a pencil and then drawn with ultramarine blue and silver acrylic paint.

Geocaching - mineral#3 Arnesfjellet
Wounderful summerday to be out geocaching.
There was known to be nickel at Arnesfjell (Arnes mountain) already in 1913.
During World War II, there where trial mining here.
In 1988, Nickel & Olivine AS decided that they would start operation on Arnesfjell. In the first years it was the contractor Leonard Nilsen who was responsible for the daily operations. The Finnish company Outokumpu was from 1992 operations manager and had a majority shareholding.
It was invested a great deal on the plant of Arnesfjell, and in addition it was built export facility(quay/port) on Fornes.
There were instances of peridotite leading mineral niccolit(NiAs). The production was about 740 000 tonnes ore with nickel content of 0.52%
Olivin(magnesium iron silicate), would be one of "cornerstones" for the operation, turned out to be negotiable. To reach the nickel ore olivin needed to be removed. Olivine was thus saved at the seaside area, which is now covered with soil and there are now growing grass. There is even a small aircraft runway.
The mines entrance is 373 meters above sea level, while the mines lowest point is 35 meters below sea level. At the mines peak there were 110 people hired.
The steep fall in the conveyor belt means that the belt can power themselves and additional produce extra electricity.
Nickel prices were low, making profitability difficult and in 2002 was put into operation.
The road up to the cache is not excellent, but there are parking possibility's.

Geocaching - Husjordøya
The new road to Lofoten opened December 1st 2007. A beautiful area is now made more accessible. The bridge is the first one connecting Lofoten with out taking a ferry. This cache(GC1C6PJ) is placed near one of the signature constructions along this route. Stop for lunch, take some pictures and enjoy the magnificent scenery.
We went there on a wet but beautiful day. The smell of pure air and blooming cloudberries and rowanberries was amazing.
In addition to the great trip we did find the cache and it was some small treasures in it. In some caches you can find small treasures, but if you take something out you must remember to leave something in the box that is equal or of more valour.
A bonus view is the plug moulded in the cement in one of the bridges foundation. If you want to join up and go treasure hunting go to this web page to find more info http://www.geocaching.com
