ATC - Artist Trading Cards
365 cards ready to go.
Artist Trading Cards are individual art miniatures, small editions and, most importantly, self-produced.
These cards pass hand to hand. Anybody can produce these art cards, artists make ATC for trade or self-promotion. The only rule for these cards is their 64 x 89 mm (2.5 by 3.5 inch)
There is no standard thickness for ATCs but people customarily make them thin enough to fit inside standard card-collector pockets, sleeves or sheets. The cards are created as unique works or small limited editions of prints. Artists generally sign and date the back, and may also include a title and contact information.
ACEO
An offshoot of Artist Trading Cards are the "Art Cards, Editions, and Originals", ACEO. ACEOs originated when some artists began to create cards to sell, in addition to trading among themselves.
Do you make ATCs? Want to trade - swap?
I have cut 365 cards ready to be illustrated and decorated. My plan is to make one for everyday for the next year and hopefully trade them.
Getting ready for a year of making 365 ATCs.
Trading - swapping/ You create a card that I get, and you get a card back.
Send me an email at post@ewian.com and tell me which card you would like to trade, and I will reserve it for you. You can make the card in any material, paper, cloth, paint, ceramics, knitted or sewn. The only limit are your imagination. Create a card that represents you.
You will have one month to create and send your card to me at:
EWian(Eli Wian),
Bjorkasvn.93,
N-8540 Ballangen
Norway.
When I get your card I will send you the card you wanted in return, well wrapped against the postal rough treatment.
Please remember to write the date and sign the card.

365 kort klare.
EWian (Eli Wian),

Happy Halloween
Isak's choice of Halloween costume this year was a Ringwraiths, a Nazgul. Literature has always been his source of inspiration, and this year it was the lord of the rings that was his choice. Great fun to work with him on this project. The costume is made of two bed sheets dyed black, some rice paper, a pizza box, and paint. What do you think, wasn't it great? Do you make your own costume or do you buy one?
The pizza box base ready for the rice paper.
Rice paper added on.
First some basic, black gesso.

Lifebook#1 - 2012
The theme for week one was "Celebrating our Goddess Superpowers/Super Hero Powers/Positive Qualities" I focused on qualities that make me who I am and that I love about my self. So I ended up with a princess-ish girl. With a starry background. The gorgeous blue base is a vinyl paint that give a truly wonderful matt finish.

How was September?
Months have been flying by. And I find my self in a time squeeze more and more often. I don't like it, but I hope this is just a phase. I have not started any new projects except for this years Christmas cards. I am still trying to finish the projects that I had this spring.
I am doing a catch up with the Life book.
This layout was supposed to be May instead it turned out to be September. I knew I had a busy spring, just did not know the summer and now the fall would be busy too. Well I still get to squeeze in a bit of art every day, just not finding the time to blog about it, yet. I do hope your life is not this hectic. Happy fall!

Geocaching on our wedding day
What better way to celebrate our wedding day than to take a cache. This was the choice because of the sweet name, Kysset (the kiss). This cache is placed close to a sculpture, Kysset (the kiss), by the norwegian sculptor Arne Durban.
Thanks, to everyone who publish good caches and maintaining them!

Workers' International day
What is the 1st of May for you? A day off? Or one day we can show solidarity and unity on? We show that we are many.
The major matters of the heart is "no to oil drilling in Lofoten and Vesterålen," "no, to membership in the EU" and "more teacher density in the school." Rights are a privilege that I am proud to say that we have a lot in Norway. We show solidarity. Happy Workers' International day!

Postcard form Jenny
The card I got from Jenny was all white. I contacted her to hear if this was what she had sent, and it was not. Somewhere along the way it had been split and only the back made it here. She offered to send a new card and of course I loved to have some of her art. This time it came in an envelope all safe from nasty post sorting machines. So now I and someone at the post office got her wonderful art.
Thank you for the postcards!
Postcard form Phyllis
This card carries the title of " Moonrise over Devon". It comes from Phyllis who lives in London, United Kingdom. She is a media mixed artist. The card has watercolour and stitching, which gives a great texture.
Thank you for the postcard!
Postcard form Liz
From Liz in Australia there came a movie card. She is a dancer, singer and actor, so the card shows what she loves. So fun seeing a card that reflect the interests of the maker. She too is named after her grand mother :) In Norwegian also Eli is pronounced E-l-ee. Fun to get an insight to Australian name traditions.
Thank you for the postcard!
Postcard form Brian
This card comes from from Brian in the state of Iowa in USA. His card are a mix of collage, with glitter accessory and a sea shell-button.
Thank you for the postcard!
Postcard form Frankie
This next wonderful card came Frankie from Oklahoma, USA. The soft feeling of spring came to mind when I open my mail box and saw this card. The bookpage background with the dotted paint print, the stamps, doodles and collage all came together and gave me a taste of the spring that is to come.
Thank you for the postcard!
Postcard form Cara
This card came from USA, from Cara. The mail has beaten up this card quit a bit. On the front the collaged woman was dangling, but I glued her down. Lovely interplay between the dress of the lady and the starry sky. Unfortunately, the back has been torn up, probably by the machine that they use for sorting the mail. That means that I do not know what is at the back with the exception e-mail address and name.
Thank you for the postcard!
Postcard form Eurika
This card came from USA, from the Virgin Islands.
Eurika ha made this fun card with collage and doodles. On the front it has a quote from Johann Wolfgang von Gothe: Nothing shows a man's character than what he laughs at. Had not heard that quote before, it sure made me smile.
Thank you Eurika, for the well wishes, compliments and the blessing you write on the backside. Although the card did not have a protecting envelope it did quit well in the mail.
Postcard form Corey
This card came from Corey in Australia. It has a fun mix of media, print, rub ons, stickers, fabric, washi tape, paint and doodles. The card has a lot of patters working together creating a colourful fun card.
Thank you for the postcard!
Postcard form Ellen in Virginia
This card comes from Ellen in Virginia, USA. The card is a print of a silk painting she has done. Looks like she had fun making them.
Thank you for the postcard!
Postcard form Derika
The first card came from South Africa, from Derika. The card says "Geniet jou kreatiwiteit" that's Afrikaans for Enjoy your creativity. The feel of the card is so wonderful, the handwriting on the graph paper is so beautiful. The front has a mix of collage, stitching and paint, with some doodling and the word Knoeledge.
Thank you for the postcard!

Easter egg for Cecilie
Last year I made an Easter egg for Cecilie. I shared the background colours and sketch last year, but did not show you the finished egg.
Are you celebrating Easter? Do you have Easter eggs? In our family we unpack our Easter eggs on palm Sunday. The eggs are filled with candy, the eggs are individual. So you decide how much you want to eat every day, this is what you get of sweets for the rest of the holiday. What the egg is filled with varies from year to year.

Marionettes
Sketch the rich man.
I am making Marionette dolls. I have made birds and a doll before, but that was soft one and quite simple. This time I trying humans. I began to look at couples who could play against each other. You have the classics: priest - devil and prince - princess. But you also have nurse - doctor, troll - askeladden (ashlad, Norwegian fairytale figure), Father - son, wife - husband, sultan - belly dancer, cowboy - Indian, Adam and Eve, butler - maid, Leia - Han Solo, and and many more.
Sketch, the poor man
You see there were many thoughts and ideas. The choice fell however on: poor - rich. I wanted to make men. I tend to make girls in my illustrations and artworks. So to stretch myself, I would have characteristic men.
Have you ever made dolls? Marionettes? I would love some tips!
Medium used in the sketch: pencil, watercolour and permanent marker.

Cards in the mail - balloon and boxes, iHanna swap 2012
The cards are in the mail! I made 13 cards, a bakers dozen. Ten to swap, one to keep, one to give away, one to sell. If you want to buy it you can find it at my Etsy shop.
This one I am selling
So the cards are on their way to:
USA: Iowa X2(the same district!), North -Carolina, California X2, Arkansas.
Canada
South Africa
Sweden X2
The illustrations are called "balloon and boxes". Illustrating a girl holding on to a yellow balloon. You however may see something completely different.
This one I'm keeping. ................. This one is on it's way to some lucky girl.
The cards are made on watercolour-paper.The card has a light coat of varnish on to prevent smudging.
I do not recommend direct sun light as this can make the cards illustration to fade.
I also made a little stamp to go along with the cards, see the picture of the envelopes. The envelopes are embossed with the sun/star.
Medium used: stamp, gel pen, watercolour, modelling paste, ink, ink pad, string, distress stickles, vinyl paint, alcohol and varnish.
