67/365:2013 ATC Happy Women's Day
The idea behind the International Women's Day was to make a strategy to promote equal rights, including suffrage, for women. Sadly after more than 100 years being a women does not give you equal rights, nor equal worth as a man.

59/365:2013 ATC conversation b
Conversations follow rules of etiquette because conversations are social interactions, and therefore depend on social convention. Failure to adhere to these rules devolves, and eventually dissolves the conversation.
The Norwegian alphabets has an additional 3 letter to the English alphabet, we have the letters

This card is connected to card 58. The translation on the card would be: -"ABCDEFG" -"oh"

An astronomer is a scientist who studies celestial bodies such as moons, planets, stars, nebulae, and galaxies); the physics, chemistry, and evolution of such objects; and phenomena that originate outside the atmosphere of Earth (such as supernovae explosions, gamma ray bursts, and cosmic background radiation). A related but distinct subject, cosmology, is concerned with studying the universe as a whole.

46/365:2013 ATC shh baby is sleeping
Parents have been tiptoeing around their sleeping infants since time began. Whispering: “Shh, baby is sleeping''.
But it only works with the first-born, when it is simpler to control domestic noise levels.
A radio playing or household appliances humming away can actually help the baby sleep. Interestingly, the concept of generating noise for the sake of making infant sleep is the latest in nursery gadgetry.

8/365:2013 ATC Pinky
Did you know that the ghosts in Pac-Man had names? This is Pinky, he is pink - smart, speedy and good at ambushing. The rest is: Blinky, red - the fearless leader of the ghosts. Inky, blue - tends to be a little off target, but watch out if he gets close. Clyde, orange - the least intelligent ghost of the bunch. In Ms. Pac-Man Clyde is replaced by Sue, orange - the sexiest of the group.

6/365:2013 ATC Three Kings
A primstav (translation: prime staff) or Runic staff is a perpetual calendar with medieval character. Also known as the ancient Norwegian calendar stick. These were engraved with images. Primstav existed in many parts of Europe. It was used in Norway until 1700 when the Gregorian calendar was introduced. On a bar of wood or bone there were cut bars for each of the 365 days. Holidays and anniversaries had special marks. A pristav is divided into a summer side and a winter side. The summer start at 14 April and ends on 13 October (183 days). Winter start at 14 October and ends April 13 (182 days, but 183 days for leap years). The old primstav were not large. They were often no more than approx. 70 cm. long.
The 6th of January is the Three Kings / Three Wise Mens day. On the primstav it was marked with three crosses, three crowns or three men.
According to Christianity, a group of distinguished foreigners visited Jesus after his birth, bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. They are regular figures in traditional the nativity celebrations. Usually we have them displayed in our nativity scene at Christmas.
Although the account does not tell how many they were, the three gifts led to a widespread assumption that they were three as well. The tradition of depicted one of them as negro did not come until the year 500. At this time they also got named Balthasar, Caspar and Melchior.
6th of January is traditionally the last day of Christmas here in Norway, the last day for the lights on the Christmas tree. After this day people removes the Christmas decorations.

Cards in the mail - balloon and boxes, iHanna swap 2012

The cards are in the mail! I made 13 cards, a bakers dozen. Ten to swap, one to keep, one to give away, one to sell. If you want to buy it you can find it at my Etsy shop.
This one I am selling
So the cards are on their way to:
USA: Iowa X2(the same district!), North -Carolina, California X2, Arkansas.
Canada
South Africa
Sweden X2
The illustrations are called "balloon and boxes". Illustrating a girl holding on to a yellow balloon. You however may see something completely different.
This one I'm keeping. ................. This one is on it's way to some lucky girl.
The cards are made on watercolour-paper.The card has a light coat of varnish on to prevent smudging.
I do not recommend direct sun light as this can make the cards illustration to fade.
I also made a little stamp to go along with the cards, see the picture of the envelopes. The envelopes are embossed with the sun/star.
Medium used: stamp, gel pen, watercolour, modelling paste, ink, ink pad, string, distress stickles, vinyl paint, alcohol and varnish.

As mentioned yesterday, I had a lot of trouble finding the right motive, you can see the post here . I ended up with a dragon inspired by the Norwegian stave church (Wikipedia) On it's back it has a girl. She is playing the flute.
The clouds are super iridescent, do not show up in the photo though.
