We have a cat, Boris, he try to chase the birds, but the bullfinch just flew up on the roof.

27/365:2013 ATC snow in my eye

I spy in my little eye, some winter snow... It's snowing, makes all sound so soft and nice.

20/365:2013 ATC snowflake

The card is made by using a resist technique. First I lay down a layer watercolour paint, then gloss medium. Let it dry then a new layer with watercolour paint.

19/365:2013 ATC snow in the city

When it comes lots of snow in the city, streets and sidewalks fills up with plenty of snow. To manoeuvre is almost impossible especially if you are on foot. The solution for many cities near the coast is actually to dump snow on the sea.

2/365:2013 ATC Baby It's Cold Outside

There is a Norwegian saying "å fryse seg blå" translating "to freeze oneself blue". It is not so cold for January just around -10*C(14*F). However that is cold enough to feel freezing blue from being outside for a couple of hours.
Medium used: acrylic paint, colouring pencil and acrylic glaze.

I have never seen so large snowflakes at home before. Most of them was 4 to 5 cm (1.5-2 inches) long.

February postcard swap

I joined up with a postcard swap at iHanna. My motive is a February winter night. Do you see the pail northern light dancing over the sky?

I started up with watercolour, thin layers upon each other. Wanted to get a little northern light effect. Then came the houses in a mix of watercolour and acrylic, with the iridescent snow. A touch of snow in the sky and finally an embossed heart to guide you through the night. So much fun to make.

It is so nice "meeting" people from around the world and getting a glimpse of there life through there creativity and art. I am so looking forward to the cards that will be delivered to my mail box. I'll post them up here as I get them.

Art journal - ice skating

Ice skating, it has been many yeas since I last ice skated. I think about 15 years... Not that I suddenly started doing it again, but the roads has been slippery. First a lot of snow, then rain and then frost. It all made it in to wonderful ice skating and chair sledge days.

Medium used: permanent marker, watersoluble wax pastel, acrylic, masking fluid and watercolour. The entry is made in the brown leather journal from Rhonda Miller.

Art journal - First snow

The first snow is here! It always comes like a surprise. It is actually 20 days later this year than last year. My art journal today was a snow scene, with two small hares/bunnies out waking in the snow. The background is watercolour, the hares is made with permanent markers and iridescent medium.
Detail, even with no blitz the reflektion make it hard to get a good picture. Here is the view from the road 0730 in the morning. Beautiful is'nt it?

ATC - porcelain flowers in the snow

ATC - artist trading cards - porcelain flowers in the snow

I was asked to participate in an ATC- swap, 26 cards that are alike. I have never made ATC's. So I said that I had to try it out. Here is my test round and this is how I did it.

Made a sketch. The inspiration is the porcelain flower, it is not made of porcelain is a real flower (picture her if you don't believe me). Well I imagined the flowers in the snow.



I cut up 30 cards, guessing there was going to be some mistakes. Stamped the brown leafstrukture. Drawed the porcelain flowers. Added the masking fluid in dot's. Made the centre of the flower with acrylic paint.


Added some iridescent medium thickly, to get a little structure.


Painted with watercolour ochre and shades of blue. Added a little bit of iridescent to get a little sparkle. Rubbed off the masking fluid.


Cut out words from magazines and old books. Stamped on the S. Just have to sign and write on the back of the cards.

A little trouble along the way when making the cards...
Well I had problems cutting it exaktly to size and finding enough of the word "porselen" did not want to copy.

Not sue what to do with the cards as this was only the test round and I am going to do the real challenge for the swap later. Have any suggestions?

A bit about ATC - ACEO

Artist Trading Cards are individual art miniatures which pass hand to hand. Artists make ATC for trade or self-promotion. The only rule for these cards is their 64 x 89 mm (2.5 by 3.5 inch)
There is no standard thickness for ATCs but people customarily make them thin enough to fit inside standard card-collector pockets, sleeves or sheets. The cards are created as unique works or small limited editions of prints. Artists generally sign and date the back, and may also include a title and contact information.

An offshoot of Artist Trading Cards are the "Art Cards, Editions, and Originals", ACEO. ACEOs originated when some artists began to create cards to sell, in addition to trading among themselves.

IF - save

For me the word save triggered an association to an avalanche. The illustration is an attempt to capture the moment somebody is dragged out of an avalanche.
