Medium used: permanent marker, watersoluble wax pastel, watercolour, pencil, eraser, acrylic paint, paper, embossing fluid, mica laced pigment , watercolour pencil and glue.

So if I got this right, explanation of Australian slang used in the song:
Billabong = A waterhole
Billy = A can or small kettle used to boil water for tea
Coolabah tree = A type of native tree in Australia
Jumbuck = A sheep
Swagman = Someone who lives on the open road, a hobo. The term came from the canvas bag that they would carry their bedroll and/or belongings in
Trooper = In Australia's early days, there was no police force. The colony was protected by and policed by soldiers.
Tucker bag = A knapsack or bag for storing food in the bush.

IF - clumsy

It wasn't that he was nervous and had misplaced his glasses that made him clumsy, but the fact he was wearing a tie for his first date...

This weeks word for illustration Friday is clumsy.

Sinus inflammation, again

This is the second time in only a short while I have had this illness, I had one before Christmas. It has never been a problem before. I have no idea what it causing it. I have been to work three days this week, but today I capitulated and stayed home. To much pain...

So, guess what is making this girl unhappy? Do you think it might be sinus trouble/sinusitis? That is what I think...

Art journal - piece of the puzzle

Sometimes you are given a piece, but dont know here to put it.

It can be life that gives you a piece. Even though you like the piece, it is hard to find the right place for it. You don't know how or where to fit it in.

There have been some questions/inquiry about me selling things I have made on line, and although I like the idea, I don't know how to fit that in to my life... I want to do it in a good and professional way... When you meet your customer/client face to face there is so easy to find good solution...

I have started to enjoy the blogging. I was very unsure starting out, would I find things to share? What should I share? Would I be able to keep it up? Would my English vocabulary keep up? How much time would it consume? I still have a lot of questions like do I share unfinished project? I do a lot of creative work but for the most part I only share sketches/paintings/illustration. Can I find good ways to share other things? How can I include other blogs and bloggers?

I see that when I get feedback on things I share it encourage me and it gives me desire to share and blog more. I would like to say a big thank you to all that gives feed back! Thanks for feeding my blog!

Art journal - playing dirty

I got this mail where the subject was "Monika and Cindy, Playing dirty" Silly me thinking it was something related to children's play. This mail was the start of a long row of spam. For years my mail address have been flying under the spam radar. I realise I have been lucky. There is now more than 200 mail a day that is marked with spam, sadly some mail that is not spam also comes in my spam folder so I have to go through the spam folder to check that it is correct. No, I don't open the mails I just skim the headlines and the sender.

I have started the new job and guess what they are playing dirty there... Or at least they play in the dirt, it has been raining for a couple of days an the children are loving the puddles. They make beautiful mud-cakes.

Art journal - new job

I got a new job, to be more correct I got A job. I have been studying for the last 5 years. (Still have a month to go.) The job is only a deputyship, but it will give me a study income until next April. So what is the job? I am hired as a pedagogue/educationalist in a kindergarten featuring kids from the age 1 to 6. Alto my speciality is the age span from 5 to 18, this job is close to home. I will be able to walk to work! I am so looking forward to not have to commute like I have been doing for my own education!


Really like this part.

For the art journal entry I made a very happy girl. Kind of like I feel. The entry is made with some new watercolour pencils from Lyra called "aqui" they are 5mm wide and has a hexagon grip, probably made for kids. Though I test out some new watercolour pencils as my regular brand, Derwent watercolour pencils, is running low in some... probably most of the colours. If you have a favourite brand feel free to give me a tip.

EDM # 11draw your sunglasses

The EDM challenge number 11 was "Draw your glasses or sunglasses". I chose the sunglasses, mostly because I don't wear other types of glasses, yet... I guess that will come with age. The glasses lay on my drawing table, and the light fell in on them on an odd way. I think I need some new sunglasses these are not good to wear any more, the glass is OK not to much scratches but everything else is bend and crooked.

Medium used: 2B pencil, watercolour pencil and permanent marker.

IF - time

Time! It is something I wish I had more of.... not really but I wish I could spend more of my time doing what I really want. Being with family and friends and making art and crafts! Now a days I feels like I am hurrying along to somewhere else all the time. The feeling that you work against time is not what you want to do the rest of your life, it is only OK for a short period of time.

The illo is inspired of a book I read as a child, about Jason and his mother. Camilla Mickwitz is the author. The mother has so little time that she spends part of her holiday cleaning windows because in her everyday life she can not find the time. When Jason and his mother are going somewhere Jason is always hanging in mid air behind his mother...

Swim team

Here is my swim team. Made a team with 9 girls/ladies all with different personality's.
Not sure if they will break the world record but they will sure try.

The team is made on watercolour paper with watercolour both paint and pencils and some painted vintage paper.

Medium used: pencil, vintage book page, matt gel medium, watercolour and watercolour pencil.

EDM # 6 - favorite well-loved object

This object is a wooden bowl, it is actually my grandmothers, it sits on her living room table and is filled with small paper pieces, manna-corn, on them is bible verses or to be more correct it says where to look up the bible verses. My grandmother use to draw one piece for everyone that was visiting and then read the verse before the went home. The faint letters on the bowl says "in memory of the peace, Narvik, 1945" As long as I can remember the bowl and the manna-corn has had the same colour tones always looked well used. This is me trying to capture a memory of my grandmother reading the bible verses to us before we left for the road home.

I got my first collage cube, rubber stamps cube, today. No, they don't sell these where I live, so Etsy was the place to go.

Made a little collage piece. Medium used: ink pad, vintage book pages, rubber collage cube, watercolour , watercolour pencil, iridescent and heavy structure gel medium for glue, acrylic paint.

IF - baby

Have you seen little children pretending that their dolls are babies? Medium used: watercolour , watercolour pencil, ink for the background, vintage book page, ink mixed with acrylic for the colour of the dress, iridescent medium for the spoon.

IF - seed

A dandelion seed floating with the wind.

Wanted to keep the simple lines of the seed, yet give the wind some form in the background.
The iridescent and the silver comes out a bit gray in the pictures, it is actually quite shine.
Medium used is: ink for the marble effect, watercolour pencil, acrylic paint, iridescent medium.
