51/365:2013 ATC winter is coming

Although the phrase winter is coming is made popular by George R.R. Martin amazing books, my thoughts goes to the still to come two months of winter that is still ahead. With over a meter of snow out side and more on the way I made a paper snowflake.

31/365:2013 ATC winter princess

She is a winter princess, all dressed up to go to the winter ball. If she has glass slippers on her feet, only she know.

We have a cat, Boris, he try to chase the birds, but the bullfinch just flew up on the roof.

19/365:2013 ATC snow in the city

When it comes lots of snow in the city, streets and sidewalks fills up with plenty of snow. To manoeuvre is almost impossible especially if you are on foot. The solution for many cities near the coast is actually to dump snow on the sea.

11/365:2013 ATC ice fishing

Ice fishing is fun, easy, and does not cost much.
Security!
When it comes to ice it is safe when the ice is 10 cm, except pole ice. You will meet different types of ice. Steel Ice is strongest, while the pole ice is weakest and very creepy. Pole ice occur in the spring before the ice disappears. It can be thick, but still very treacherous. Assessment of ice is always difficult, especially when there is snow on the ice. If you are unsure, go slowly and drill many holes. This will also allow you to get acquainted with the water.

Bait.
When you use bait, the fish are most interested in what is alive. Maggot and earthworm lasts longer and should be kept cool and dark. There is also a tip that say if you are catching char, you should use canned corn.

Sikkerhet!
Når det gjelder isen det er trygt når isen er 10 cm, unntaket er stav is. Når du fisker vil du møte ulike typer is. Stålis er sterkest, mens stavisen er svakest og svært skumle. Stavis oppstå i løpet av våren før isen forsvinner. Det kan være tykk, men likevel svært farlig. Vurdering av isen er alltid vanskelig, spesielt når det er snø på isen. Hvis du er usikker, gå sakte fram og bore mange hull. Dette vil også tillate deg å bli kjent med vannet.

Agn.
Når du bruker agn, er fisken er mest interessert i hva som er i levende. Maggot og meitemark varer lenger og bør oppbevares kjølig og mørkt. Det er også et tips som sier at hvis du er fanger røye, bør du bruke hermetisk mais.

"If a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it, does it create a sound?"
Yes, of course, the tree make sound when it tumbled to the ground. But how do you know that something makes a noise if you did not hear it? Can you be sure?

2/365:2013 ATC Baby It's Cold Outside

There is a Norwegian saying "å fryse seg blå" translating "to freeze oneself blue". It is not so cold for January just around -10*C(14*F). However that is cold enough to feel freezing blue from being outside for a couple of hours.
Medium used: acrylic paint, colouring pencil and acrylic glaze.

I have never seen so large snowflakes at home before. Most of them was 4 to 5 cm (1.5-2 inches) long.

Movie Monday#5 Winter Song

I really like this song and alto is was released on a Christmas album I consider it a winter song. It is snowing out side so I thought it would be appropriate.
This song is by Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Beth Bareilles. The titled "Winter Song" was released off the compilation The Hotel Cafe Presents Winter Songs in December 2008.

I like it when animation gets an entry to music videos. Think this one is sweet.

Sinus inflammation, again

This is the second time in only a short while I have had this illness, I had one before Christmas. It has never been a problem before. I have no idea what it causing it. I have been to work three days this week, but today I capitulated and stayed home. To much pain...

So, guess what is making this girl unhappy? Do you think it might be sinus trouble/sinusitis? That is what I think...

Star gazing

This couple is out on a winter day, looking at the stars.

I live in a wonderful place! There is not much light-pollution, so whenever it is not a clouded sky, or the sun shines to brightly, I can see the stars. I love it! Living in a city for many years, make me appreciate it even more. I am actually able to see the stars lying in my bed. Today I was out side looking at the stars, it is so much fun to challenges oneself to see if one recognise the stars and the constellation.
